Position summary
The Student Chaplain plays a vital role in fostering spiritual growth, emotional support, and Christ-centered community within the Missions & Service Engagement program. This student leader will serve alongside the Director to care for student missionaries before, during, and after their service experience, while also assisting in service initiatives and helping engage students in meaningful outreach opportunities.
This role is designed to invest in and develop a student leader who will grow into greater responsibility within the department, supporting both the missions and service efforts in the coming year.

Ideal candidates take initiative, collaborate well within a team, and show strong organizational skills in supporting service initiatives. Prior experience in missions, service, or ministry leadership is preferred.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide spiritual leadership through prayer, devotionals, and intentional peer support for student missionaries
- Walk alongside students before, during, and after their mission experience, offering encouragement and spiritual care
- Assist with mission program initiatives, including pre-departure training, check-ins, and re-entry/debrief support
- Support the planning and coordination of service opportunities and outreach events, helping engage students in meaningful service
- Attend and support Service Sabbaths, assisting with coordination, participation, and student engagement
- Assist in maintaining Student Missions social media, including creating and sharing content to highlight student experiences and program initiatives
- Collaborate with the Director and team to foster a Christ-centered, service-oriented community
Time Allocation:
This role is structured to provide balanced support across the department, with approximately 50% of hours dedicated to missions programming and 50% dedicated to service planning and outreach initiatives, with flexibility based on program needs throughout the academic year.

Qualifications
- Faith & Spiritual Life: Demonstrates a strong commitment to the Seventh-day Adventist faith and maintains a lifestyle reflective of spiritual maturity
- Education: Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in good academic and conduct standing
- Ministry & Service Interest: Shows a clear interest in missions, service, and student ministry, with a desire to support the spiritual growth of peers
- Communication Skills: Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to build trust and provide peer support
- Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates emotional intelligence, approachability, and the ability to maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations
- Leadership & Teamwork: Takes initiative, exercises sound judgment, and collaborates effectively within a team environment
- Organizational Skills: Demonstrates strong time management, reliability, and attention to detail in coordinating programs and service initiatives
- Technical Skills: Possesses basic proficiency in digital tools (e.g., email, document platforms, scheduling tools) and social media content creation (e.g., Instagram, Canva, or similar platforms)
- Preferred Experience: Previous involvement in missions, service projects, ministry leadership, or campus engagement activities
