This position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Campus & Student Life/Title IX Coordinator.
Qualifications summary
Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree, 2-3 years of relevant experience, and a strong understanding of the Seventh-day Adventist whole-person educational philosophy. Preferred qualifications include a master’s or doctorate in education or a related field, 5+ years of higher education experience, along with demonstrated knowledge in Title IX, civil rights investigations, or compliance.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Andrews University invites applications for a mission-driven professional to provide leadership in cocurricular education, student leadership development, and Title IX prevention and compliance within a Christ-centered, Seventh-day Adventist faith-and-learning community.
Grounded in the model of Luke 2:52, the Assistant/Associate Dean advances the whole-person development of students—mental, physical, spiritual, and social—by designing and implementing a comprehensive cocurricular framework that reflects the beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the philosophy of Adventist education, and the mission, values, and learning outcomes of Andrews University. The role also serves as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator/Investigator, supporting the University’s commitment to a safe, respectful, and equitable campus environment.

Cocurricular Education & Programming
- Lead the development and implementation of the University’s cocurricular education structure and programming, ensuring that the integration of faith and learning and the gathered worship community remain prominent, protected, and impactful.
- Design learning pathways that build value-added competencies aligned with Andrews University’s mission and learning outcomes.
- Provide touchstone experiences that nurture students’ spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and social growth.
- Oversee program logistics, communication, student participation, attendance records, and billing.
- Supervise and mentor staff supporting program implementation.
- Steward the assigned program budget in compliance with institutional financial guidelines.
Prevention Education
- Lead campus-wide prevention education initiatives addressing Title IX, hazing, substance use, and related topics.
- Partner with campus departments to cultivate a proactive, prevention-focused culture consistent with Adventist values and healthy lifestyle principles.
Orientation & First-Year Experience
- Lead the planning and execution of Undergraduate New Student Orientation, including First Stop, serving as the primary point of responsibility.
- Oversee communications, scheduling, and the coordination of key events and speakers.
- Participate in transition-focused committees and initiatives.
- Shape a welcoming, Christ-centered onboarding experience that reflects the University’s mission and community values.
Title IX Investigations & Compliance
- Conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations into complaints of sexual harassment, discrimination, and related misconduct, including evidence gathering, case documentation, and preparation of investigative reports.
- Support the Title IX Coordinator in ensuring compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies.
- Remain current on evolving Title IX guidance and civil rights investigation best practices.
- Provide administrative support to the Title IX Coordinator, including minutes, materials preparation, website updates, and semi-annual training for investigators, decision-makers, and advisors.
Student Government Advising (AUSA Senate)
- Mentor the Andrews University Student Association (AUSA) Senate, guiding governance processes, initiatives, and student-led projects.
- Advise senators in their development as ethical, service-oriented Christian leaders.
- Attend meetings, support effective student-centered governance, and assist with updates to governing documents and procedures.
- Coordinate logistics for leadership conferences and related travel experiences.

Supervisory responsibilities
Provides limited supervision to the AUSA Executive Vice President and to student workers supporting New Student Orientation, including training, coordination, and performance oversight. Provides partial supervision of staff responsible for cocurricular education recordkeeping.
Qualifications
Minimum
- Member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in good and regular standing.
- Demonstrated commitment to the beliefs and values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the philosophy of Adventist education, and the mission of Andrews University.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Two to three years of experience in secondary or higher education.
Preferred
- Master’s or doctoral degree in education, student affairs, law, or a related field.
- Five or more years of progressive experience in student development or a related field.
- Experience or demonstrated knowledge in Title IX, civil rights investigations, or compliance.
- Knowledge of prevention education practices, including sexual misconduct, hazing, and substance use.
- Experience developing and facilitating training or educational programs.
- Experience advising or mentoring student leaders or organizations.
- Strong interviewing, analytical, and report-writing skills; ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated capacity to support students’ holistic (intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual) development.
- Budget management experience.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Technical competencies
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, and Canva, with the ability to adapt to higher-education data and communication systems. Experience leveraging emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence tools, to enhance operational effectiveness is desirable.
Interpersonal interactions
Builds trust with students to support their growth and success, and collaborates effectively with campus partners to deliver coordinated, student-centered programming that reflects the Christ-centered mission of the University.
Physical demands
The role requires sitting, standing, walking, operating computer technology, and the ability to lift 30 pounds.
Work environment
The Office of Student & Campus Life is a high-traffic environment with frequent in-person and electronic contact from students and the broader University community. This is primarily an on-campus, office-based role within a standard 40–45-hour workweek, with occasional evening and weekend hours for Senate meetings, educational events, and urgent student or staff needs.
